Alive in Social Media is a newsletter exploring the impact of social media and digital technology on our lives. Written by me, Laurent François, it dives into the evolving world of internet culture, pop culture, fashion, and digital liveness.

I’ve started working with and through social media exactly when Facebook was born. I quickly discovered it could actually become my job. Since then, I've had the opportunity to work with some of the world’s most inspiring brands (Louis Vuitton, Dior, Omega) and global communities (Mozilla Foundation, World Food Programme), always at the intersection of social media, creativity, and marketing.

From London to Paris, my passion for connection and people has fueled my work. Through it, I’ve realized what truly bonds us in the digital age is something I call "liveness"—the quality or state of being alive, adapted from the Merriam-Webster definition. This concept inspired my book, Réseaux Sociaux : une communauté de vie, and its English counterpart, Alive In Social Media.

With this newsletter, I aim to reach a wider audience, and continuing to explore the concept of digital liveness. From existential questions to technological insights, every Tuesday I'll share thoughts on social networks, with a special focus on fashion and luxury, industries often at the avant-garde of human behavior.

About me

I am Laurent François. I am based in Paris. I work in a creative agency where I am in charge of projects related to creative strategy, innovation and communities, especially for luxury brands, after spending over seven years leading an entrepreneurial life between London and Paris.

I regularly contribute to the media (New York Times, Vogue, ELLE…) on issues of identity in the digital age, as well as to various business schools, fashion schools, and universities on topics related to social media, marketing, and creativity. I often give talks and conferences around the world.
