Alive in Social Media is a newsletter about the impact of social media and digital technology on our lives. It’s written by me, Laurent François.

I’ve started working with and through social media more than 15 years ago, when Facebook was just starting. I quickly discovered it could actually become my job - and I did work for Ogilvy as their first head of 360° Digital Influence practice in Europe.

By then, I kept on working at the crossroad of social media, creativity and marketing. With a deep passion for connection and people, from London to Paris.

What’s this about?

After spending so much time establishing social media strategies and listening to online conversations, I’ve realized that what truly bonds us is a new substance/concept/behavior/energy/place, that I define as “liveness”, : the quality or state of being alive (my adaptation of Merriam-Webster definition). I even wrote a book (in French) about it, “Réseaux Sociaux : une communauté de vie”.

With this newsletter, I wanted to reach a wider audience, by writing in English, and keep exploring liveness in social networks. From existential questions, to more technological points-of-views, every Tuesday.

I’d love if you subscribe to Alive in Social Media and support my work. It’s 100% free.
